This is one aspect that is too often overlooked, but you should make sure that you have a dedicated outlet for each air conditioning unit, if you have window units. The central air conditioning system should already have its own breaker in the fuse panel.

If there is a flaw in the breaker, this could lead to a fire. Make sure that your air conditioning units are protected with the proper failsafe systems that individual outlets and breakers provide.
3. Set your thermostat properly.
When summer is in full bloom, we tend to enjoy keeping that air conditioning unit running around the clock. However, this not only places an extra burden on your power consumption, it also increases the burden on the entire power grid throughout Toronto.
When the system gets overloaded, that could mean rolling blackouts. Save money this summer by programming your air conditioning system to turn on shortly before you return home and let the house warm up a bit when no one is there.
