    Reasons to Go Tankless

    1. Save Energy. with a traditional hot water heating system, you are spending money to keep the water heated to a constant temperature, even when you’re not using it. With a tankless water heater, the system only heats the water you need when you need it. This method is much more efficient and can save a great deal of money on your electric or gas utility bills.
    2. Conserve Water. When you stand waiting for the hot water to make its way from the tank to you, several gallons of water are being wasted. Every time. This can add up to thousands of gallons of wasted water. If you pay for water, that can add up. Even if you use a well, water conservation is important in today’s growing world. Tankless water heaters allow you to conserve water.
    3. Cleaner Water. Older conventional hot water tanks corrode over time and the water carried from the tank could have rust and residue mixed in it. With a tankless water heater, you get the same clear, clean water as you do when you turn on the cold faucet.

At Mckinnon Heating Cooling we believe that tankless water heaters are an amazing innovation, and as one of the leading companies providing these new systems to our clients we advise you to go tankless and save big!

    Maintenance of Tankless Water Heaters

Every manufacturer of tankless water heaters recommends regular cleaning and maintenance, and flushing if necessary. Due to the hard water, the heater might develop lime and mineral deposits on heater’s elements. Sediment build-up is especially dangerous in narrow water passages as it might clog the element and prevent further normal heating operation.

One of the most important elements is the heat exchanger, which has those narrow water passages. Flushing tankless water heaters whose heat exchangers are blocked by the lime scale is very important and must be done before something happens.

If you don’t flush the water heater, the heat exchanger can be damaged as not enough water will pass through and cool it down. Any damage which is related to lime scale build-up is not covered by the warranty.
