Maintaining Air ConditionersBeing in the heart of the summer months, the heat is on. Heat waves can creep upon us in no time and when that happens, keeping cool can be more than just an important issue; it can actually be a lifesaving aspect. When your air conditioning system fails in your home or office, it’s going to be crucial to get it repaired as soon as possible, even if we’re not currently in the middle of a heat wave.

July and August are the hottest months of the year in Toronto. That doesn’t mean we’re going to have all extremely hot days, so even during a lull in the heat, if your air conditioning system is not working properly, is not pumping out ‘cold’ air, but something more akin to lukewarm or cool air, it’s a sign that there is likely a problem with the system.

If you run a business, a failed air conditioning system can mean a dangerous work environment or an unsafe place for customers, especially if you have a lot of windows and it gets very hot inside. If you own a home, it can make you feel uncomfortable and for the elderly or infants, it can actually be life threatening.

Contact an HVAC repair company right away. You’ll find that they will be extremely busy this time of the year. You could end up hearing one to two week wait times to get a service technician to your home or business. If that’s the case, and it’s an emergency situation, let them know the specific emergency. They may be able to accommodate for health emergencies. If not, find a shelter to stay in until the extreme heat fades.

For businesses, you may be able to rent portable air conditioning units until your system is repaired. Whatever you do, don’t put your employees, customers, or family members at risk. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are serious conditions and should be avoided at all costs.

This is one of the key reasons why HVAC companies urge residents and business owners throughout Ontario to have their air conditioning systems serviced before the hot summer months roll in.
