Greenwashed this summer?
It seems everywhere we turn these days we're being sold something "green." By the government, by the private sector, by the media. Businesses large and small have of course jumped on the bandwagon. And why not? After years of warnings from scientists and environmentalists, the real impact of global warming has begun to materialize in ways we can all see and understand. And now too, in shocking fashion, oil and other energy costs have skyrocketed and some experts warn that the worst is yet to come. Businesses obviously want to get your attention and money. Generally speaking, businesses react to societal trends, fulfilling and sometimes even creating consumer demand. There's no exception where green is concerned. Mckinnon is of course caught up in all this change too. We operate in a mature and highly competitive market segment. At Mckinnon we don't profess to have profound answers or magic bullets. Our philosophy has always been to focus on providing thoughtful recommendations based on industry best practices and listening closely to what our clients say they need and want. We inform and facilitate decision making instead of leading to conclusions that benefit us. It's not that we're selfless - like any successful enterprise we look to earn a reasonable return on our efforts. We feel the difference between us and many in our industry is that our goals are longer term. We believe by developing a strong trusting relationship with you today, even if we sell you nothing, that we'll earn your respect and continued business over a lifetime. So, our pledge is to provide straight talk, to never push equipment or services that you neither need nor truly want. Contact me or any member of our team any time with your questions about home energy savings or any other cooling, heating or indoor air quality issues.
